Letter to St.Lou by Daido Moriyama
Photobook by Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama.
Photographs taken by Moriyama in various locations around Japan make up this book. It was produced as a dedicated "album of light and things". At first glance, the composition resembles a blunt illustration but rather emphasizes Moriyama's powerful photography and graphical sense.
"In July 1827, a photograph that should be remembered by the world was taken. Saint-Loup is located in the suburbs of Chalon-sur-Saône, a small city in the Burgundy region of central France. The midday summer scenery seen from the window on the second floor of a mansion in the village of de Vanrennes, built on a territory called Gras, became the subject of the world's first photograph. The name of the first great photographer to succeed in this was the inventor and chemist Nicéphore Niépce, who had a laboratory in the mansion." —Daido Moriyama
