Journey to Nakaji by Daido Moriyama
Photobook by Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama.
The "Nakaji" in the title refers to Nakaji Yasui, a legendary photographer active in Osaka from the 1920s to the 1940s. Daido Moriyama, a great admirer of Yasui, created this work as a tribute to him. It is a collection of works with glimpses of homage in places and a record of his journey to the vast land of Yasui. This book was published as the second collection of works by Sokyu-sha, which published Masahisa Fukase's "Raven" in 1986. The composition is, in a sense, modern and unmistakably Moriyama, with large margins and a strong sense of sequencing.
