Laissez-Faire by Cristiano Volk
A collection of works by Italian photographer Cristiano Volk.
Volk calls the sense of alienation brought about by the cultural signs and symbols of capitalism and consumer society in modern society a "neon illusion." In this work, which is said to have been produced under the influence of economist Adam Smith and critic Mark Fisher, Volk blurs the boundaries between day and night, inside and outside, public and private, digital and real. At the same time, I photographed neon lights, advertisements, products, and the lifestyle of modern people that symbolize that illusion. This book, which has a structure in which those photographs jump into the eyes without stopping, brings a fantastic reading experience that invites the reader deeper into an unfamiliar night town with each turn of the page.
