PLAY by Philippe Jarrigeon
A collection of works by French photographer Philippe Jarrigeon.
This is the first collection of his works in 15 years of his career. Reconstructed and recorded. The author reinterprets the code found in 90s TV shows and movies, including Clueless, Vertigo, Wheel of Fortune, and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. They form a collective visual library of pop culture. The word "Play" in the title is itself ambiguous, such as a model "playing" a specific role, or "starting" a new game such as a video or song. It resonates with the irreverence and sense of humor that resides in many of the images. At first glance, these photographs appear to be child's play, but they are actually produced based on extremely complex sets and the performances of actors. It also suggests that it is formed by the complex stacking of "PLAY".
Art direction by Beda Achermann, creative director and founder of Studio Achermann.
