(Mint) Khrystyna's World by Todd Hido
A collection of works by American photographer Todd Hido.
This book was published from September 12th to November 21st, 2015 in conjunction with a solo exhibition at Reflex Amsterdam, a gallery in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
"Christina's World", which is the source material for the title of this work, is a tempera painting produced by the painter Andrew Wyeth in 1948.
t6> It depicts a sick, paralyzed woman crawling across a meadow. Wyeth said that in his work, he tried to accurately portray a woman who overcomes such hardships in a threatening way. In this work, which was inspired by that work, Hyde depicts a complicit photo story with a woman named Christina as the main character.
