Galerie Rudolfinum

A collection of works by Belgian artist Michaël Borremans.

Bound like a Moleskine notebook, this book was published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name held at the Rudolfinum Gallery in the Czech Republic from January to July 2020. In addition to a total of 30 paintings and video installations exhibited, it also contains three new works created for the gallery in the fall of 2019.

"Michael Borremans' paintings actually depict static scenes as fantastic projections born from the artist's imagination. His method of grasping reality and reflecting it in his work is , is closely related to the Dutch painting world of the 17th and 18th centuries. The subject matter of his works can sometimes be linked to the latent violence of modern times, but his work is exceptionally beautiful.

Petr Nedma (Rudolfinum Gallery Director / "THE DUCK" Exhibition Curator)
