The Unforgetting by Peter Watkins

Skinnerboox

A collection of works by British visual artist Peter Watkins.

In February 1993, Watkins' mother took her own life by stepping through the sea from Zandvoort Beach in the Netherlands to the North Sea.

This is the author's long-running exploration of trauma, loss, and family memories, and the first book of many years of work. The project centers on the exploration of the tragic loss of a mother's suicide, but hides the artist's personal position and feelings in the creation of these images. But if you look beneath the surface of the universality created by avoiding telling personal stories, you'll find that the stories and narratives that make up the biographies of the dead are so delicately woven. ing. At the heart of the series is the interplay of presence and absence, the absence of her mother and the traces of her life explored in the 'haunting' state.

Limited to 500 copies.
