This book is about house music from 1983 to 1989, courtesy of Mario “Liv It Up” Luna, a DJ who lived in Pilsen (an area near the center of Chicago) in the 1980s. Contains a collection of related flyers and ephemera. These flyers, also called Pluggers, were used to advertise parties. They were probably set up in record stores or handed out in schools or on the streets to announce upcoming house music events. It's by no means an encyclopedia, but the collection includes WBMX Hot Mix 5 and some of the lesser-known DJ names at various venues. Various aspects of the rising Chicago house scene are recorded, including the flyer for "kings of house". At the same time, there are the names of promoters, record shops, labels, party crews and dance groups that have contributed greatly to the growth and atmosphere of Chicago's house music scene. This book provides the flavor that many consider to be the greatest era of their lives, and for others unfamiliar with it, it is an introduction to one of the greatest eras in Chicago music history. deaf.
