#selfies by Harry Woodrow

Art and Theory Publishing

A collection of works by Stockholm-based British artist/designer Harry Woodrow.

This book contains 76 works selected from the series "#selfies" that the author has been posting on Instagram since 2015. As the name suggests, these photographs are self-portraits, but the photographer, Woodrow, wears a special box with a mirror attached to his head, allowing him to capture his own photographic equipment and what is in front of him. It captures the scenery as well. It presents the traditional issues in photography, such as subject and object, photographer and subject, in a more open manner, and asks the meaning of selfies again to the contemporary audience where selfies have become an everyday culture. Featuring a conversation between Woodrow and curator Nora Arrhenius Hagdahl on the role of selfies in modern society, and an essay by artist and writer David Price.
