Sleeping by the Mississippi by Alec Soth

A collection of works by American photographer Alec Soth.

This work, Soth's first book, was published by the German publisher Steidl in 2004, and quickly established Soth's reputation as a photographer. Despite being treated as a historical masterpiece, it was still difficult to pick up, but in 2017, 13 years after its publication, two new works were released by the British publisher MACK. A reprint was produced with the addition of unrecorded works.

The "Third Coast", which is often forgotten because it plays an iconic role in America, centered on road trips along the Mississippi River. This work carefully depicts the people, scenery, and buildings that live in the area, and from the photographs, you can even feel the melancholy of human beings such as loneliness, longing, and illusion.
