Le Tapis (Fair Use) by Pierre Leguillon
A collection of works by French artist Pierre Leguillon.
This folding pamphlet and poster was held at the art center "WIELS" in Brussels from October 1st to February 22nd, 2015, and was created by Le Guillon from image reproductions over the past 15 years. It was distributed at the venue of the exhibition "The Museum of Mistakes: Contemporary Art and Class Struggle" where the works were collected. Images are gathered from photographs, films, advertisements, postcards, posters, slides, record covers and magazines, but these works avoid consolidating into fixed forms. Each work is closely related to the principle of locomotion, reversibility, and is arranged in a movable, light or portable structure. Due to the economics of the means and the autonomy of the exhibition, "The Museum of Mistakes" proposed an exhibition model that tries to undermine or "declassify" the hierarchy of art by playing on the title of the exhibition. By deconstructing identities, whether that of the artist, of the viewer, or of the images exhibited, The Museum of Mistakes reconsiders the conditions of acceptance of art, first depicted as activity. invite us to In doing so, Ruguillon questions the political function of art in a society in which individuals are in a perpetual process of transmitting and receiving information.
