Oobanken by Jerome Ming

MACK

A collection of works by Jerome Ming, a photographer living in South Africa.

Ming was born in London, grew up in Zambia and Malawi in East Africa, and returned to England to major in fine arts at Nottingham Trent University. He is currently based in South Africa. This work was produced during his residency in Yagon, Myanmar, and the title "Oobanken" is taken from a wild bird of the cuckoo family that inhabits Southeast Asia and South Asia. Through Min's perspective and lens, the sights and things of daily activities in the local area are transformed into unrealistic images, somewhat like a dream world. Its surrealism is reminiscent of the modernist photography of the past, but it is extremely modern in that it is self-aware of the narrative (flow) in the way it is presented. is an impressive book.
